Up to 1.25 Gbps Optic Driver Family

Driven by customer needs, A³PICs developed optical transmitter ICs also. For low speed visible fiber communication a LED might be sufficient. For faster data rates (e.g. 100Mbps) the use of RCLEDs is advised. A³PICs offers ideal driver circuits for applications with LED/RCLED. These drivers are all working from a single supply voltage and incorporate all necessary parts to set up a complete receiver/transmitter chipset.

For higher speeds (e.g. 1.25Gbps) a RCLED is no longer sufficient. In this regime the use of a VCSEL is mandatory. A³PICs also offers solutions for this special need. Even with a single supply voltage design A³PICs can drive any common VCSEL even up to the 660nm regime. Our transmitters are optimized to run from a single 3.0V-3.6V or 4.5V-5.5V power supply. Due to a very special driver circuit the VCSEL forward voltage can be up to 3V even with supply voltage of 2.97V, without performance penalty.

One highlight of our transmitter designs is a multi channel optolink driver. This customer driven parallel design is capable of transmitting up to 2.5Gbps per channel for a high-reliability industrial application.
